The Real Reason

So, I got caught up in my ranting that I forgot the other reason I was posting...sorry. This semester I am playing the tuba more than the past 2 years combined! Our studio recital is this coming Tuesday and I'm all over the program, lol. I am playing a solo, Nocturne, which is going to be awesome if I may say so. My sound has changed so much since I first came here, and it makes me happy. That and me and Tharp are the powerhouse of tuba/euph. :D. Oh, and me having the biggest tuba helps. Speaking of Tharp, me and him are doing a duet also, The Wonderland Duets, just for you Chris. And I have to say they are going great, yay atonal music! And then the program is closing with our quartet, which is comprised of Josh Mallory, Mark Webster (who's from NKU), Josh Tharp, and me...with our powers combined we are the Mystic Cat Quartet! That's right, we are all brothers, Mark pledged at NKU last fall, in-fact I was at his ritual, kind of creepy ain't' it? But we are playing 3 songs at the end...we have now become the top quartet. LB's quartet was top, but after our first gig Dr. Baker decided to take Matt Kimmons out of the group, we don't really know why, but we believe it's because Matt is changing majors and is going to leave Morehead, but who knows. So, Dr. B put Marc Najjar in his place, and then James Hay dropped out of school, so David Brock another freshman was moved up. Now both are great players, but Marc is still learning CC tuba, and he is playing 1st tuba parts in ensemble and 2nd in quartet's. So now our quartet is the one who has to pull all the slack, which is cool in away but doing it all alone stinks. So hopefully that recital will go great, and then Thursday is our 00-tubafest which will be hilarious most likely. And then this past Thursday was Octoberfest at the One-on-One with us playing...wow that was the most rowdy performance I've ever been in or seen! Well, I really need to go to bed, take it easy!

Returning to an old friend...

Sorry it's been such a long time since I've posted. Life has been so busy that getting the bare minimum done is hard enough. I should probably be in bed right now, seeing as I have to be at the field at 9am for practice...yay homecoming. Speaking of marching band, wow...Dr. Creasap has been at her all time high for NOT being professional. She makes practice so much more difficult then it has to be, and that means we the band are miserable, it's the never ending circle of negativity! Also, since I'm V.P. for CMENC I get more of her. At the beginning of this semester she reamed us for not doing our jobs and how we should change the organization. Now, she was correct in us changing the organization so we did...but we can't reach that last step because she is dragging her feet! It took her 2 weeks to finish the 53 membership forms...all she had to do was sign her name! CMENC is planning on doing a fall festival so we had to have Dr. Creasap approve the plans. She got the plans on Monday or Tuesday, and then she was supposed to pass them on to Dr. Mcbride or send them back to be fixed. Thursday comes along and we didn't hear back from her, so Jenn (El Presidente!) went to Dr. Mcbride to ask for a room to keep the equipment we are borrowing for this festival. She got to his office and started asking him about it, and he was clueless to what we were doing. So Jenn went to Emily Robinson to ask her why they wanted Jenn to go to Dr. Mcbride when he didn't have the proposal. Yea, turned out Dr. Creasap still hadn't looked at it yet, and when Jenn asked her about it Dr. Creasap was pissy and said she was too busy to work on that. Right, so as an educator we are to put ourselves before our students? Or, we are supposed to worry about how other faculty members view us, and it doesn't matter what our students think about us? I know Dr. Creasap is a very busy person, but we only had marching band once that week! That's almost 2 hours at the end of Monday, and Friday that she had. What did she do, sit on her hands! If she ever wonders why people don't respect her it's because she doesn't show her students respect. It doesn't matter how hard she tries to impress the faculty, I believe the faculty won't respect her because of what they hear their students say. If any person out there reads this and is an education major of some sort, please always keep your students first, they are your legacy you leave, doesn't matter how many trophies you win, how much money you make, or how much respect you get from your peers. How you influence that child, be it good or bad, is the most important thing you do...so how are you influencing people???
